A TV Satellite Tour consists of a series of pre-booked interviews with television stations in selected cities across the country. Targets include television news departments and magazine format TV programs in local network affiliate stations, independent stations, cable news organizations and news feed services. The idea is to place your product in a news or news/talk program to give it the same visibility as news and enhance its position in the market by showcasing it as a "newsworthy" item.
Normally a TV Satellite Tour includes 15-20 interviews throughout a 2 to 4-hour satellite broadcast. Each satellite hour is divided into 10-minute interview windows. A live feed (uplink) is generated at the location (typically an indoor studio) and transmitted via satellite to the receiving station, which in turn, will broadcast the segment live or tape it for later transmission.
Each interview is approximately 3-5 minutes in overall length and must have a news "feel". Factors that influence producers in booking a satellite feed are: a newsworthy topic, the popularity of the spokesperson (celebrities are always welcome satellite guests), an exciting location, and the ability to make the segment a station "exclusive." Every producer has his/her own opinion of what fits into their newscast/talk show. It is their choice to select which questions to ask the guest and how long the interview will run.

PLUS Media develops and sends press kits to television stations in top TV markets; pre-books all interviews; creates indoor/outdoor studio sets and coordinates all props. We select models (if needed); write the script and train the spokesperson; arrange for all rehearsals and fittings (if needed). PLUS Media is responsible for hiring and supervising all technical and creative personnel as well as allocation of equipment.

The spokesperson, normally a nationally recognized personality/authority, requires media confidence, bookability and experience. PLUS individually selects and trains each spokesperon for every project.
Through electronic encoding and personal follow-up phone calls, we are able to report how many stations aired the interview, the airing dates and receive additional information concerning market demographics and publicity value for the project. Overall reports should be completed two to four weeks after the satellite airing date.
PLUS Media has produced several highly successful 20+-city TV satellite events. We can produce a tour exclusive for your product or we can co-op your product in one tour with other non-competitive companies in order to reduce the overall budget.
The total cost of a TV Satellite Tour depends upon location expenses, satellite uplinks (for in-studio or location shoots), spokesperson fees, etc. Our fee includes complete development, coordination and production of the tour, booking expenses, satellite feeds, spokesperson and model fees (if needed), a final report and a highlight tape of the tour. |
